Pensioners, the Elderly and the NHS
Question 6: What are your policies for the elderly and old people?
We strongly value the role older people play in families and in society, and will not let them suffer because of the economic mistakes of others. That is why we have made a pledge to pensioners to re-link the basic state pension to earnings, and protect:
• the winter fuel payment ;
• free bus passes;
• free TV licences;
• disability living allowance and attendance
allowance; and,
• the pension credit.
Don’t believe Labour’s scaremongering about our policies.
We know the NHS is very important to many elderly people. Our specific NHS pledges for the next parliament are to :
Increase health spending every year.
Give patients more choice and free health professionals from the tangle of politically-motivated targets that get in the way of providing the best care.
Give patients better access to the treatments, services andinformation that improve and extend lives, boost the nation’s health, and reform social care.
More details can be found in our manifesto.
